The ASEAN region with the markets of Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam is becoming increasingly important for the German economy - whether as a sales and procurement market or as a sales and production location. The dynamic economic area with strong growth rates and around 670 million inhabitants offers diverse opportunities for German companies. Since the end of 2015, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) has guaranteed the four basic economic freedoms: free movement of goods, services, capital, and qualified workers. In addition, two ASEAN countries, Singapore, and Vietnam, have already concluded a free trade agreement with the EU.
